Le plongeur will open the 41st edition of the Rendez-vous Québec cinéma

The RENDEZ-VOUS QUÉBEC CINÉMA, presented by Hydro-Québec in collaboration with Radio-Canada, Immina Films and Sphere Media, are delighted to announce that the opening film of the 41st edition will be LE PLONGEUR, the sixth feature film by director Francis Leclerc! The film will have its world premiere at the Blue Carpet Evening presented by Bell Media on February 22 at the Théâtre Maisonneuve at Place-des-Arts, and will then be shown throughout Quebec on February 24.

Adapted from the novel Le plongeur by Stéphane Larue, this feature film is produced by Marie-Claude Poulin and written by Eric K. Boulianne and Francis Leclerc. The film is carried by a young and talented cast of actors including Henri Picard for his first time in a leading role in cinema, Charles-Aubey Houde, Maxime De Cotret, Joan Hart, Fayolle Jean Jr, Robin L’Houmeau, Marie-Ève Beauregard and Jade Charbonneau to name a few. Nicole Robert, Bruno Dubé and Josée Vallée are executive producers of the film.

“What a pleasure and pride it is to launch our 41st Rendez-vous with Le plongeur, an eagerly awaited event film that will leave no one indifferent! Francis Leclerc’s adaptation of The Diver is one of the most gripping films of its kind, transporting us into the world of gambling addiction and the behind-the-scenes world of the restaurant business. With a Montreal winter backdrop, the film is also the perfect opener for our festival, which is returning to its traditional winter dates! It promises to be a great kick-off,” said Sylvie Quenneville, Executive Director of Québec Cinéma.

“We are certain that The Diver will win over the hearts of our festival-goers as much as it did us thanks to Francis Leclerc’s ambitious direction and Henri Picard’s accurate and poignant acting. With a breathtaking narrative and an audacious soundtrack, The Diver is a vibrant work that promises an intense and memorable opening night for our 41st edition of the RVQC!” says Valentin Verrier, director of the Rendez-vous Québec Cinéma.
