Sphere Animation: a success for its first cohort of interns

Sphere Animation is proud to announce that seven graduates from Herzing College in Ottawa have successfully completed their internship at the studio. Two of them have even joined the regular animation team and will work full time on new Red Ketchup series. This initiative was developed through a partnership between the animation studio and Herzing College.

Lasting 6 weeks, the objective of these internships is to provide the students with tangible work experience by giving them the opportunity to become familiar with an animation studio environment and be better prepared to enter the work force.

“We are delighted to have established this partnership with such a renowned institution in our field,” said Jacques Bilodeau, President of Sphere Animation. “We are confident that in the short term we will be able to establish other partnerships with specialized schools and welcome even more students in 2D animation to complete our existing talent pool.”

Herzing College is a private institution that offers several training programs, including an accelerated 2D animation stream. It was founded in 1965 as the Herzing Institute, specializing in IT education. Over the years, the College has added to its professional training streams while expanding geographically by establishing campuses in Ontario, Québec and Manitoba.

Sphere Animation has produced series for children—including Caillou, Arthur and Curious George—and others for an adult audience, such as F is for Family. The studio has two highly anticipated original series projects in the works: Red Ketchup and Riley Rocket.

In May, Sphere Animation opened an office in Ottawa, following those in Montréal and Toronto.
