A police officer gone mad brutally and senselessly shoots a dozen children. On the same day, Thomas Roy, an internationally known horror writer, attempts suicide after cutting off his fingers. At first glance, nothing seems to link the two events, until Dr. Paul Lacasse, a disillusioned psychiatrist about to retire, inherits the case.
Encouraged by his young colleague Jeanne, a fan of Roy’s, Paul conducts his own investigation into the past of this patient he thought was normal. Continually harassed in his research by Monette, a gossip columnist who suspects a scandal involving the writer, Paul will gradually discover troubling circumstances that will shake all his certainties.
