Antigone

Antigone, a brilliant young immigrant from Algeria, lives in Montreal with her grandmother, her sister Ismene and her two brothers, Eteocles and Polynices. But one afternoon, her world is turned upside down. During a scuffle in a park, Eteocles is accidentally shot by a police officer. By interfering, Polynices is accused of assaulting a policeman, imprisoned and threatened with deportation. Despite Ismene’s reluctance, Antigone sets in motion a daring plan to free Polynices and confronts authority: the police, the justice system, the penal system and the father of her boyfriend Hémon, an influential politician. Despite the punishment she faces, Antigone remains true to her own sense of justice and wins the support of a youth that expresses itself through social networks and colorful demonstrations. To a future that is being bargained away, Antigone returns love and loyalty to her family.
